Live, online, Navigator-led English literacy — ages 5 through high school

Real English mastery.
Taught live, one‑to‑one.

Your child reads classics from SAT reading lists, unabridged, then talks them through with a Navigator and writes about them, week after week.

What your child gets

About one grade level

of reading growth in each 16-week cycle, estimated in Lexile at Week 0 and Week 16

Writing, scored as it grows

every four weeks the Navigator’s report scores your child’s writing on the skills of their level

Built for the stage your child is in

The gap a report card misses

School knows the grade.
A Navigator knows the child.

Many children read fluently and sound fluent, then go quiet when a book gets harder or an essay starts on a blank page. A report card rarely shows it: the distance between the words a child can read and the ideas they can think through.

Navigators are not tutors. They are practicing educators with backgrounds in literature and writing, trained in the MCT Language Arts tradition and in Harvard Project Zero’s thinking routines.

Each Navigator finds where your child really is, then closes the distance to their goal week by week, through The LCS System.

The Methodology

The LCS System

This is the shape of every session — Read → Think → Speak → Write. We keep the order steady, week to week, so a child can settle into it.

  1. Read

Students read classical and SAT-must read texts chosen at or just above their current Lexile level — from Alice in Wonderland and The Invisible Man, to The War of the Worlds, progressively greater complexity. Never simplified versions; the book itself is what we work from.

  2. Think

Navigators are trained to use Harvard Project Zero thinking routines to form precise discussions — supported by specific textual evidence, beyond general impression.

  3. Speak

Students defend their thinking in a live Socratic session with their Navigator. The Navigator’s first move after any answer is always a more thought provoking question — never an evaluation. Precision in speech precedes precision in writing.

  4. Write

Students produce written work in the MCT writing arc: Grammar, sentence, paragraph, essay to academic composition. Their Navigator scores each piece on the skills of the child’s level. Progress is concrete and visible.

How It Works

About a grade level of reading growth in a sixteen-week cycle.

We measure it with Lexile and show it in the writing scores. And when a child learns to think clearly in English, that habit tends to carry — into their other subjects, and into every language they use.

Before We Begin

We find out exactly where your child is.

Not where their school report says they are. Before the first session, every student receives a Lexile reading assessment. We plan from data, not from guesswork.

How the assessment works

During The Program

Every session runs The LCS.

Read. Think. Speak. Write. Your child’s Navigator tracks their movement through each phase every week. The LCS system is grounded in the MCT Language Arts framework and Harvard Project Zero’s thinking routines. Nothing is guessed. Everything is guided and measured.

Understand The LCS

After 16 Weeks

We show you the numbers.

Every student receives an exit Lexile assessment and a full written report. A child who can read complex text, argue a position, and write with intention — then defend that thinking out loud — is building something a machine can’t do for them. That habit of mind is hard to teach, and a quiet joy to watch grow.
