Little DODO

Live, one-on-one with a dedicated early-childhood educator — phonetics, fluency, vocabulary, and the love of reading. Built book by book. Where the reader begins.

Grade 3+

ELA Program

Live, Navigator-led literacy and writing — read complexity, argue with evidence, write with intention. Progress measured in Lexile. A 16-week cycle, four skills every session.

Before the Pressure

The early years decide whether a child reads to learn — or learns to avoid reading.

Most programs for young children push performance too early — flashcards, levels, tests. A five-year-old who feels behind learns to dread the page. Little DODO does the opposite: short, frequent sessions that build comprehension first, and the quiet confidence that they can understand what they read.

How Little DODO Works

High-frequency. Low-pressure. Live with a Navigator.

01

Frequent, short sessions

Little and often beats long and rare at this age. Sessions are brief and come around often, so reading becomes a steady habit — not a weekly event to brace for.

02

One Navigator who knows them

Not a rotating tutor. The same Navigator each time — someone who learns your child’s pace, what they love to read, and where they need a gentler hand.

03

Read, then talk it through

Your child reads, then says what they understood out loud — the early shape of Read → Think → Speak. Comprehension grows by talking through a story, never by drilling it.

The Same DODO

Built for five-year-olds. The same DODO philosophy.

Little DODO shares the ELA Program’s delivery model — live one-on-one with a dedicated Navigator, every session. What changes is the specialist team and what they teach: Little DODO is staffed by early-childhood educators trained in phonetics, fluency, and pronunciation. Vocabulary builds book by book. The love of reading is the goal — and the foundation comprehension is built on. Formal Lexile measurement comes later, in the ELA Program (Grade 3+), when your child is ready for it.

Who It’s For

Little DODO is a fit if…

  • Your child is roughly ages 5–8 (kindergarten through grade 2).
  • They are just starting to read, or reading but not yet understanding deeply.
  • You want a gentle, consistent start — not flashcards and pressure.
  • You’d rather build the habit and the love of understanding before the rigour begins.

Questions parents ask

What ages does Little DODO serve?
Ages 5–8 — kindergarten through Grade 2. The point is foundational reading at this stage: confidence to read aloud, comfort with comprehension questions, and the joy of understanding what they read.
How often does a Little DODO student meet with their Navigator?
High-frequency, low-pressure. The cadence is set with you during the diagnostic call to match your child’s attention span and family rhythm — never longer than the child can sustain.
Does Little DODO use Lexile measurement?
No. Lexile is appropriate from Grade 3 in the ELA Program. At Little DODO ages, the outcomes are confidence with reading aloud, comfort with comprehension, and the steady habit of opening a book. Formal Lexile assessment starts later.
When should we move from Little DODO to the ELA Program?
Typically around Grade 3 — when your child is ready for Lexile-measured reading. Your child’s Navigator tracks readiness and recommends the transition with you. There is no automatic age cutoff; the readiness signal is the gate.
